Overview
Taryn Apodaca, a mother of five from Shullsburg, was diagnosed with the rare and serious pregnancy complication placenta accreta during her fifth pregnancy. With the help of specialists at UW Health, a carefully planned C-section at 36 weeks safely brought her son, River, into the world. During surgery, doctors determined a hysterectomy was necessary to save her life, a difficult but expected outcome for Taryn and her family. Now home and healthy, Taryn cherishes motherhood more than ever and feels grateful for the expert care that made her recovery possible.
